Your notes

MDTree reads the folders you add yourself, and within them only the Markdown files: .md, .markdown, .mdown and .mdx. In git projects the app skips whatever .gitignore excludes. From those files MDTree builds a search index on your Mac.

Your notes stay plain files in your own folders. MDTree has no cloud of its own, imports nothing and keeps no copy in a vault of its own. The contents, names and paths of your notes never leave your Mac through MDTree. Settings, such as the added folders, the colours and the favourites, are stored locally on your Mac. Stop using MDTree and your files stay where they were.

Anonymous usage statistics

MDTree can share anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck: which features are used and rough counts, such as how many folders or notes there are, together with an anonymous device identifier. No contents, no name and no path of any note is included, and the data is not linked to you or used for tracking.

This is off by default. Nothing is sent to TelemetryDeck unless you switch it on in Settings › General, and you can switch it off again at any time.

Purchases

You buy MDTree Pro through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the payment; MDTree never sees your payment details.

To know whether Pro is active, the app uses RevenueCat. That service receives a random, anonymous ID created on your Mac, Apple's proof of purchase and basic data such as country, platform and app version. No notes, no name and no email address. You restore an earlier purchase inside the app.

GitHub

Syncing with GitHub is optional. You sign in once with a GitHub personal access token. That token stays in your Mac's keychain and goes only to GitHub. MDTree never asks for your GitHub password.

Beyond that, the only network traffic is with GitHub: to sign in, and when you sync. What is sent then is your changed Markdown files, to your own project on GitHub. What happens with them is covered by GitHub's terms.

Permissions

MDTree runs in Apple's sandbox and can only open the folders you add yourself. The app does not ask for access to your contacts, calendar, location, camera or microphone, nor for Accessibility or Screen Recording.

In short: who receives what

• TelemetryDeck: anonymous usage statistics, only if you switch them on in Settings.
• RevenueCat: an anonymous ID and the proof of purchase, for MDTree Pro.
• Apple: the purchase itself, through the Mac App Store.
• GitHub: your access token when you sign in, and your notes when you sync.

Nobody else receives anything, Monto bleu included.

This website

This policy is about the app. The website montobleu.com uses Clicky, a web analytics service, to count visits and see which pages are read. Those statistics are aggregated and are not linked to anything you do in the app.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear at this address with a new date. The app links to this address.
