Privacy policy

Data collected
None. Spacenotch does not collect, store, transmit or share any personal data or usage data. It does not use cookies, identifiers, analytics, crash reporting or advertising frameworks. There is no account and no sign-up.
What the app reads on your Mac
To do its job, Spacenotch reads the following information from macOS, locally on your Mac:
- The list of volumes currently mounted, and for each one its name, file system, total capacity, free and purgeable space, and whether it is internal, removable, ejectable or on the network.
- If — and only if — you point the app at your Time Machine disk yourself, the dates of the backups stored on it.
Your files are never read, opened, listed or counted. Spacenotch is not a disk cleaner and does not scan folders; every figure it shows comes from the volume itself, the same way Finder gets it. This information is only used to display it on your screen and, if you enable it, to show a disk space alert. It is never sent anywhere and is not written to disk, except for your own settings and the last known size of drives you have unplugged, which are stored in the app's sandbox container on your Mac.
Network access
Spacenotch performs no networking of its own: it contains no code that opens a connection, and it has no analytics or update service. The App Sandbox entitlement for outgoing connections is present for one reason only — macOS requires it for the Mac App Store to deliver the in-app purchase. If you use network volumes, the app reads their capacity through macOS, exactly as Finder does; it never contacts a server itself.
Permissions
- Nothing at first launch. Reading the list of volumes and their sizes needs no permission at all.
- One folder you choose, optional: if you press "Choose…" to designate your Time Machine disk, macOS shows its own file picker and grants read-only access to that disk so the app can read the backup dates. You can undo it with "Forget" in Settings.
- Notifications, optional, only if you turn on disk space alerts.
Both optional permissions can be revoked at any time in System Settings. Spacenotch does not request Accessibility, Screen Recording, Full Disk Access, location, contacts, camera or microphone access.
Purchases
Spacenotch Pro is an in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the Mac App Store. Spacenotch never sees your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy applies to the purchase.
This website
This policy is about the app. The website montobleu.com uses Clicky, a web analytics service, to count visits and see which pages are read. That data is aggregated visitor statistics and is not linked to anything you do in the app.
Children
Spacenotch does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date.
